Dear Friends,

By the time you receive this, we will have celebrated Thanksgiving with family and friends and with our church family as well last Sunday.  What a wonderful day of giving thanks to God and recommitting ourselves to the future of our church with our gifts and our very selves.  I give thanks to God for each of you and all of you!  If you have not yet had a chance to turn in your financial commitment for next year, please feel free to drop by the church office or mail in your pledge.  We are feeling very hopeful that we will be able to do all that we are hoping for and dreaming about in our visioning process because of your "extravagant generosity!' 

 

And so it somehow seems right now to move into our time of preparation for the Advent and Christmas seasons which begin this next Sunday.  A part of that celebration will be our annual all church conference on December 14 right after church.  We will, of course, "have" to eat and celebrate the ministry of this past year with a potluck dinner, so please plan to join us!  Look at the calendar included in this newsletter to see all that is ahead of us.  One special holiday treat will happen early in December when we offer to the community "The Innkeeper of Bethlehem" on December 4, an evening of special music and a dramatic performance by the "Spirit of Christ” ministries, who are traveling to Emporia especially to bring us this wonderful program. My colleagues from other churches who have seen this program assure me we will all be very blessed by having these folk to First United Methodist Church!  It will be a wonderful way to begin your Christmas season.
